A nice walk alongside the Isar in springtime

Spring is approaching – and thus the desire for a nice walk in the springtime emerges. There are beautiful routes alongside the Isar. We start directly downtown at the Friedensengel which was ceremoniously inaugurated in 1899 and reminds us of the 25 peaceful years that passed since the German-French war in 1870 / 1871. We move on to the Maximilian Park, named after king Maximilian II. of Bavaria, and to the idyllically situated Maximilianskraftwerk, one of Bavaria’s oldest and still active hydroelectric power stations which was constructed in the style of a small baroque hunting castle and oozes a special kind of

charm due to its graffiti paintings. We pass the Mueller’sche Volksbad, a breathtaking Art Nouveau spa which after its establishment was considered the largest and most expensive swimming pool in the world. Shortly thereafter we can take a look at the Museum Island that features the world-famous German Museum. Finally, we cross the Isar and enjoy a drink in one of the hip Glockenbachviertel’s cafés.
