In hardly any other German city there is such a concentration of galleries and auction houses as in Munich. Whether in the Kunstareal in Maxvorstadt, in Schwabing, along Maximilianstraße or Leopoldstraße in the city center – Munich is an internationally important and traditional location for the art scene. Not least because of the many art fairs, Munich is one of the most significant centers of the international art market. The Art Fair Munich – Fine Art & Antiques, the oldest of its kind in Germany annually focuses on antiques, the classic modern and non-European art. Not only since the first Munich Contempo, International Contemporary Art Fair in autumn 2010, the first fair for contemporary art and design in Munich, has Munich established itself as the center of young contemporary art. Within the framework of Open Art, the galleries for contemporary art regularly organize an art weekend in September which has become a fixed date in the international world of art over the past years. The Academy of Arts promotes its international reputation with exhibitions of its young graduates. In individually organized tours artattendance offers you insights into the Munich gallery scene.
