Gerhard Richter in Munich

Gerhard Richter is counted among the most successful painters in contemporary art and is sometimes referred to as „Picasso of the 21st century“. The Munich Lenbachhaus is now showing an exhibition of his work. The title „Atlas Micromega“ alludes to Richter’s engagement with the relative size of reality. The Munich exhibition features thousands of photographies, collages, and sketches collected by Richter. He ordered this conglomerate according to form and content. Some of the exhibits were used as models for his works and were transformed into other media, others were not used any further.

Visitors are thrilled by the exhibition, for with the historical, artistic, and partly very personal motives of his family, „Atlas Micromega“ reflects Richter’s creative work – and illustrates his versatility.

Until February 9, 2014.
