The exhibition in the Pinakothek der Moderne is completely dedicated to the female gender – or at least the depictions of women. Works of three great artists of 20th century art are on display: Pablo Picasso, Max Beckmann and Willem de Kooning. The artist are not voyeurs or reproducers, but creators of their own pictorial world in which the women display a distinctive power and fascination. The women appear quite differentiated, even if Picasso is regarded as woman devourer, Kooning as absolute woman hater and Beckmann as someone who primarily needed women to give him encouragement.
